Description
Welcome to my 2026 mystery shawl KAL: The Color of Hope. Last year, I asked you, my followers, to tell me what color you see when you think of hope. To me, it’s a sun dappled day filled with blossoms and buzzing bees. It is not passive. Hope’s roots reach deep and flower with action: the foundation of existence and the shape of our path through the world.
This is a crescent shaped shawl using two colors of yarn. The Verb kits include two skeins of Floating, Doodle, or Rumor base (fingering weight) one each of the two colorways, a 2026 limited edition shawl pin hand made by me, and a code to download this placeholder and all “clues.” The first portion of the pattern (clue) will be released digitally at 10 am Pacific time on May 22, 2026, and my first YouTube going over the clue will also be that day. The KAL will have 5 clues total, each one week apart. One year after the KAL is over, your mystery pattern will update to the full compiled pattern.
We will be knitting together in the @Romi’s Studio Ravelry forum and in my Facebook group, and I will also be doing YouTube lives! You will get a full schedule in the time leading up to the first clue drop. The YouTube lives will remain accessible as recordings. I hope you’ll join us in the fun!!!
Hints before the first clue:
- Do not substitute a yarn of which you have less than 400 yards;
- the pattern looks best in yarns that won’t obscure motifs;
- I am using the golden yellow set in Floating; and
- I started with the darker color.
