My 2021 Mystery Shawl is here!
If you purchased a Verb for Keeping Warm kit, there’s no need to purchase this mystery, as a code for a free pattern download is included.
This listing is for a PDF downloadable hand knitting pattern only. You will have unlimited access to the downloads through your account. This is a mystery knit, so there are a few clues in the further description below, but you will not know what the finished product looks like until the end of the clues. That’s the fun of it! By purchasing this product, you will receive a full pattern broken into 5 “clues,” beginning April 9 and spaced one week apart. The pattern will then be compiled in February of 2022 and updated so that you receive the full copy in one PDF document.
This pattern used a “pay what you can” model to make it more accessible to more people while helping me to defray some of the costs for my own time. It is now available at one lower price.
See below for more pertinent info!
Description
Welcome to my 9th mystery shawl KAL! This is a shallow half circle using two colors of fingering weight yarn, 385 to 438 yards each.
The first clue will be released digitally on April 9, 2021 at 10am PDT. The KAL will have 5 clues total, each one week apart, and each released Friday at 10am PDT. After the KAL is over, your mystery pattern will update to the full pattern.
We will be knitting together in the @Romi’s Studio forum on Ravelry as usual, but because I know that Ravelry is not accessible to everyone, I will also be having YouTube Lives and joining up with A Verb for Keeping Warm for meetups every Saturday so that everyone has access to community and to me! Each Friday, you’ll receive a link for a Live at 4pm that afternoon. The YouTube lives will remain accessible as recordings. I hope you’ll join us in the fun!!!
Errata:
Clue 2:
all errata identified in Clue 2 are corrected in the current file version dated April 17, 2021
Hints before the first clue:
– This shawl uses two colors of fingering weight yarn, one skein per color of at least 385 yards each, with US 4 (3.5mm) needles. Gauge is 22 stitches and 30 rows per 4 inches/10 cm
– I am using A Verb for Keeping Warm Floating, and the pattern lists three other additional Verb yarn bases; two were special to the kits (Rumor and Doodle), but Annapurna and Floating are currently available. Although the Annapurna is listed as sport weight in the Ravelry database, I would say it is on the light side, and knits up like a fingering weight. Either sport or fingering weight will work. Floating, Rumor, and Doodle are fingering weight yarns.
– I am using the Vermilion (hot pink)/Mariposa (peach with washes of pink) colorway and starting with the darker color. Choose solid or tonal colors with some contrast.
– Do not substitute a yarn of which you have less than 385 yards.
