In the high desert, flowers learn to bloom whenever there is a little extra water to be had, as though they’re donning their fine clothes in celebration. The Desert Globemallow hereabouts has bloomed more than usual this past short summer, and is – right at this moment – still in a celebratory mood, even though fall has crept into the air and light on the mountainside.
The Globemallow shawl is knit up here using a lovely gradient, but would be just as beautiful in a solid. It’s a satisfying pattern, with a wide triangle top worked in garter stitch, and straight-forward lacy bottom in a stockinette stitch base.

This shawl is part of my A Special Skein collection.
This shawl is one of two released to kick off my 2023 Special Skein KAL (31 August through 30 September)! I’ll be knitting a new shawl design up while everyone else is knitting up their own project. The third pattern will be released by the end of 2023 to complete the eBook collection.
